Mason http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00022.html#0005225 April 24, 2022, 3:58 pm Written: 1829 Transcribed by Sloan Mason slomas7@comcast.net Register of Deeds Duplin County, NC Bk. 2, p. 244-245 Joel HINES to John HUNTER both of Lenoir Co., NC -346 Acres in Duplin Co., NC 22 Oct. 1829 This Indenture made this Twenty Second day of October One Thousand Eight Hundred & Twenty Nine between Joel HINES of the County of Lenoir & State of North Carolina & John HUNTER of the same place - In order to ratify a deed for a certain piece or parcel of land lying & being in Duplin County & State aforesaid adjoining the lands of Jesse HARDY, Thos. SMITH & Alexander Keaton, the deed was for Three Hundred & Eighty seven acres & acknowledged in Open Court by said Joel HINES in said County of Duplin, The Inconsideration for said Deed was Nine Hundred & Thirty two dollars & Sixty Seven Cents on a Re-Survey it was found that the said Land containing only Three Hundred & forty six acres. The above described deed Can't be found in the Clerk's nor Register's Office of said County. I do by these presents bargain & agree to sell & convey the sd. Land according to the Re-Survey to said John HUNTER his heirs & assigns forever for the valuable in consideration of Eight Hundred & Thirty-three dollars & eighty six cents, paid & secured at the assigning of the above described Deed in latterant ? of One Thousand Eight Hundred & Eighteen or first of Nineteen - Patented by James OUTLAW & conveyed to said Joel HINES, Robert T. HINES by a Deed of Trust - Beginning at a Stake near a pine Thos. SMITH'S Corner, thence with his line N 111 3/4 poles to a lightwood stump, thence W 84 1/2 poles to a Blackjack in Alexander KEATON'S line, thence with his line N 101 1/2 poles to a Maple in the head of Short's branch, thence E 172 1/2 poles to a Stake on Hardy's line near two large pines, thence S 49 1/2 poles to a Stake, Hardy's Corner, thence E 127 poles to a lightwood stump his other Corner, thence S 60 1/2 poles to a Stake near Hardy's Red Oak Corner, thence S 60 E 67 1/2 poles to a pine his other Corner, thence S 108 3/10 poles to a Hickory, Thos. SMYTH'S Corner, thence W 63 poles to a pine his Corner, thence N 37 1/2 poles to a pine his other Corner, thence W to the beginning 208 1/2 poles - containing Three Hundred & forty six acres, more or less. To have & to hold the above described unto the sd. John HUNTER his heirs & assigns, forever. I, Joel HINES for thereon to covenant & agree to warrant & forever defend the said Land & premises to said John HUNTER him & assigns against any lawful Claim or Claims whatsoever.
