This Deed made this 24th day of April 1919, by J. Frank HOLTON and wife Sallie E. 
HOLTON of Lenoir County and State of North Carolina parties of the first part to 
W. C. DUPREE of Lenoir County and State or North Carolina party of the second 
part, Witnesseth That said parties of the first part in consideration of Twelve 
Thousand Three Hundred Twenty Seven & 39/100 Dollars to them paid by said party 
of the second part the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, have bargained 
and sold and by these presents do bargain, sell and convey to said party of the 
second part and his heirs all of that certain tract of land in said County & 
State aforesaid described as follows, viz: Being Tract numbering One (1) situated 
near the Town of Griffin, Contentnea Neck Township one part of property formerly 
owned by D. W. WOOD and now known as J. Frank HOLTON Farm as surveyed and platted 
by A. CLANCY? CC which said plat or map is recorded in Pat Book One, at page 96 
or Public Registry of Lenoir County, Reference to said Map is hereby made for a 
more perfect description, Tract number one contain 4 59/100 acres on the South 
side of the Griffin to Edwards Bridge Road, making the total in the said tract 
hereby conveyed Seventy Two & 9/100 acres, 72 09/100 acres, Possessions to said 
lands to be given to the party of the second part by the parties of the first 
part. January 1st, 1920.
To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land and all privileges and 
appurtenances thereto belonging to the said party of the second part his heirs 
and assigns, to him & his heirs only use and behoof forever.
And the said parties of the first part covenant that they are seized of said 
premises in fee, and have a right to convey the same in fee simple, that the same 
are free from all encumbrances, and that they will warrant and defend the said 
title to the same against the claims of all persons whomsoever.

I, W. B. DOUGLAS, Notary Public, do hereby certify that J. Frank HOLTON and 
Sallie E. HOLTON his wife, personally appeared before me this day and 
acknowledged the due execution of the annexed Deed of Conveyance; and the said 
Sallie E. HOLTON being by me privately examined, separate and apart from her said 
husband, touching her voluntary execution of same, doth state that she signed the 
same freely and voluntarily, without fear or compulsion of her husband or any 
other person, and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto. Let the 
instrument, with the certificate be registered.
Witness my hand and official seal, this the 24 day of April 1919.
