Joel HINES of Lenoir Co. to Elizabeth GLISSON of Wayne Co., NC- 100 Acres in 
Duplin Co., NC
20 Aug 1829

This Indenture made the 20th August in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight 
Hundred & Twenty Nine between Joel HINES of the State of North Carolina & County 
of Lenoir of the one part & Elizabeth GLISSON of the aforesaid State & County of 
Wayne of the other part (wife of Dennis GLISSON);, Witness, that I the said Joel 
HINES do bargain & Sell for the sum of One Hundred & Seventy five dollars to me 
in hand, paid by the said Elizabeth GLISSON, wife of Dennis GLISSON, a certain 
tract of land being in Duplin County beginning & runs as follows, Viz-Beginning 
at a pine Dennis GLISSON'S Corner & runs S 100 poles to a Stake thence W 100 
poles to a Stake, Dennis GLISSON'S Corner, thence E 160 poles to the beginning, 
containing One hundred acres, it being a part of a tract of land Patented by 
Samuel TANNER the 28th day of November 1782, which Land I the said Joel HINES 
hath this day bargained, sold & Conveyed unto her the said Elizabeth GLISSON 
wife of Dennis GLISSON her heirs or Exrs. Admrs & Assigns forever & I the said 
Joel HINES do bind & oblige myself my heirs, exes & admrs at all times to 
warrant & forever defend the said lands, its woods & waters & every other 
convenience thereto belonging unto the said Elizabeth GLISSON her heirs & 
assigns forever clear from me, my heirs, Exrs, Admrs, & assigns from any other 
encumbrances whatever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed 
my seal the day & date above written.
