DEATH OF CHARLES DYE

Charles Dye, aged 31 years, died at the residence of Thomas Farrar on south
Main street, Wednesday evening February 10 at 9:00 o'clock, after a week's
illness. From Saturday until Wednesday of last week Mr. Dye worked on the ice.
The exposure to the cold and wet made him sick and caused congestion of the
brain. Injuries which he received several years ago probably did a great deal
towards causing congestion. In the fall of 1900 he was very badly injured about
the head and face by the explosion of a boiler at the El Dorado Mills in the
north part of town, and it is feared that his brain has been somewhat affected
since the occurrence, making it more susceptible to disease.

Mr. Dye was born in Wayne county, Indiana near Richmond. He came with his
parents to Kansas in 1881 and since then has lived in or near El Dorado. Until
three or four years ago his father Wm. Dye lived alone two miles northwest of
El Dorado. About nine years ago Charley was married to Miss Josie Farrar and
they have two daughters, 8 and 5 years old. Mr. Dye's parents and his sister,
Blanche live in Wichita; his sister, Mate in California and his brothers
Herschel, W. R. and John R. reside in Pueblo, Colorado; Anderson, Indiana and
Dallas, Texas respectively.

Charley was an industrious young man, good natured and well liked.

The funeral will occur tomorrow Friday from the hom eof Thomas Farrar on south
Main street at 2:00 o'clock, and interment will made in the west cemetery.
