Obituary: John Wesley Daub was born in Forsyth County, North Carolina, May 3, 
1849. Departed this life on October 17, 1933, at the age of 84 years, 5 
months, and 14 days. He was the son of Reverend Dave and Ruhama Daub. He was 
married to Mary Henrietta Pfaff on December 10, 1876. To this union were born 
four children: Mrs. Walter Skaer of Augusta; Mrs. Clifford Skaer of Witchita; 
Frank D. of Augusta, and Charles O. of Gladewater, Texas. When a young man he 
joined the Moravian church in North Carolina. He came to Kansas in 1877 and 
settled on a farm near Douglas where he transferred his membership to the 
Methodist church and remained in that faith till death. After living in Kansas 
eight years he returned to North Carolina and remained there until 1900. 
Coming west again he settled on a farm near Augusta where he spent the 
remainder of his life. Besides his membership in the church he was an honored 
member of the Masonic lodge. Those who survive, in addition to the four 
children mentioned above are: his wife, Mary; eight grandchildren; a brother, 
Charles of Lewisville, NC; a sister, Mrs. Josephine Flint, of Kendrick, 
Oklahoma. Also several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
