DEATH COMES TO EMMET BROWN 

Emmet Brown, husband of Myra Lockwood Brown, widely known El Dorado author, 
died early this morning in Allen Memorial Hospital. Mr. Brown, Route 2, was 85 
years old.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the First Methodist 
church with its pastor. Dr. Joe Riley Burns, officiating. Interment will be 
made in Blankenship cemetery south of Rosalia. The Kirby Funeral Home is in 
charge of the services.

Mr. Brown came to Kansas from Missouri in 1911 with his parents, the late Jesse 
M. and Sarah Evelyn Brown, settling in Rosalia township near the Economy 
community.

He was a farmer all his life, and found time in his busy rounds to serve 
willingly in the performance of many public and neighborly acts which redounded 
to the progress of his home community. Kindly in his nature and generous and 
warm in his instincts he was known far and wide as a man of high purpose and a 
citizen of impeccable reputation. His death has brought sorrow to the scores of 
friends that were his.

For several years he worked with the Agricultural Soil Conservation office. He 
served on the board of Long School district for 35 years and was a member of 
the Rosalia township board for 25 years.

Mr. Brown as a member of the First Methodist church and the Men's Bible and 
Victory classes of the church. 

He was born Aug. 13, 1878 at Elk Creek, Mo. 

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Jesse Torrey Brown, Sacramento, 
Calif. Two sisters, Mrs. Eva Moomey, Roseville, Calif., and Mrs. Julia Morgan, 
Route 4, a niece, Mrs. Ruth Martin, Route 4, and a nephew, Jess Moomey, 
Roseville, Calif.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by a daughter, Effie Rachel and a son, Myron 
Emmet.

SERVICES ARE HELD FOR EMMET BROWN 

Friends in large numbers paid their final respects Wednesday afternoon to Emmet 
Brown whose death occurred here early Monday.

Funeral services for Mr. Brown who lived on Route 2, El Dorado were held at the 
First Methodist Church with Dr. Joe Riley Burns officiating.

Darryl F. Patten sang The Lord's Prayer and Goin' Home, accompanied on the 
organ by Mrs. W. C. Butterworth. 

Casket bearers were G. C. Wammack, Miller D. Burgen, Russell baker, Russell 
Sluss, Jr., Daryl Mosier and Lloyd Gray. 

Members of the Men's Bible class of the First Methodist Church served as 
honorary bears. Ushers were David S. Steele and Harold J. Borger.

Interment was in Blankenship cemetery, near Rosalia. The Kirby Funeral Home was 
in charge of arrangements.
