Ed Adair

The sudden death Monday of Edgar H. Adair, who stood among the first rank of
Kansas oil producers, has saddened the industry. Mr. Adair was an energetic
man, who entered the oil business a master of 20-25 years ago after having been
moderately successful as a grain dealer. His triumphs in this new field were
sharply marked, since he found and sold an immense amount of production since
1950.

Mr. Adair was a widely-known and much-trusted operator in Butler county. He
drilled many wells in this area, and his wildcat ventures were purposeful.
Chief among his successes in this county was the opening of the Paulson pool in
its northwest portion, where 95 producing wells were secured.

Mr. Adair was regard in the oil industry as a square-shooter. He practiced the
unique trait of usually absorbing all, or most, of the risk involved in his
various drilling ventures.

He was a Kansas native son, having been born at Conway Springs, and spent most
of his life in the Wichita area. His death at age 65 removed from oil-producing
ranks one of its true stalwarts.
