Edward W. Abbott Dies at Age of 95; Services Wednesday 

Edward Wright Abbott, a resident of El Dorado for 70 years, died Sunday at the 
Valley View Convalescent Home following a lengthy illness. Mr. Abbott, 527 
North vine, was 95 years old.

Mr. Abbott had lived here since 1894. he entered the railroad service as a 
telegrapher with the Missouri Pacific railroad at Dexter, Kan., and retired in 
1935 after 46 years employment.

Mr. Abbott was a member of the First Christian Church and the order of the 
Railway telegraphers. 

He was born Feb. 28. 1868 at Radnor, Ohio. He and Ivy L. Hauger were married 
Sept. 22, 1896 at Sedan, Kan. She died in 1933.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. S. A. Horton of 527 North Vine, and Mrs. 
L. G. Johnson, Austin, Tex., two sons, James P. Lancaster, Pa., and Harold L., 
Bartlesville, Okla.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, Russell, and a brother, Albert 
C. Abbott. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Kirby Funeral Home 
chapel. The Rev. Ivan H. Hansen, pastor of the First Christian church will 
officiate. Interment will be in Belle Vista cemetery.

Services Held for Edward W. Abbott 

Funeral services for Edward Wright Abbott, 95, of 527 North Vine, were held 
Wednesday afternoon at the Kirby Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Abbott died Sunday.

The Rev. Ivan H. Hansen, pastor of the First Christian Church officiated. 

Mrs. Jack Gordon sang In the Garden, and The Lord's Prayer. The organist 
was Mrs. H. W. Bullerdiek. 

Casket bearers included Harry L. Cousland, L R. Hunt, Ralph Ryan, Jim Perry, 
Bryon I. Hall and John O. Green. 

Members of the Friendship Sunday School Class attended the services in a group. 

Interment was in Belle Vista cemetery.
