A Well-Known Twiggs Planter Dies Suddenly from a Paralytic Stroke

News was received in the city Thursday of the death of a well-known planter, 
Mr. John Everett of Bullard's station, at the age of 68 years.

Mr. Everett had just finished a hard day's work Tuesday evening and had 
stepped upon his porch when he felt a sudden pain in his side, and in a moment 
he was paralyzed.   His family came to his assistance and carried him to his 
bed.   During the evening he died.   He was well known in the city among the 
cotton men.

John Barrett Everett was my gg-grandfather; Private, 6th GVI Co I, fought at 
South Mountain, Sharpsburg, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, and Olustee.  
Wounded at the Crater.
