Body Of J. B. Davis Found Dead In Field
Mr. Jesse Bryant Davis, age 51, died very suddenly Tuesday at his home place
in the county. He had apparently been well as usual when he went out in the
field for a day's work and at the noon hour he failed to show up for dinner.
The family became alarmed and his body was later found where he had been
picking velvet beans. It is presumed that he died of apoplexy.
He was a splendid man and well thought of in his community. He worked hard
and supplied his family with the necessary comforts, even providing many
luxeries. He was a man who will be missed not only by his immediate family,
but by those who knew him in his neighborhood.
Funeral arrangements are being made for Friday at Cool Springs. Many
beautiful tributes of praise are being paid his memory.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Bertha Lou Davis; seven sons, John Henry, Leo,
George, Raburn, Elbert, Forrest, and Jesse Edward Davis; two daughters, Lizzie
Lee and Josephine Davis; and three brothers, John Davis of St. Louis, Mo.,
Henry Davis of Bleckley County, and Ira Davis of Laurens County, and one
sister, Miss Mary Davis of Dudley.

Additional Comments:
Jesse was born 5 Aug 1887 to Henry Davis and Elizabeth "Betty" Chance Davis.
Georgia death certificate #29339.
