                           Mr. Carter
COMMERCE----James P. "Jimmy" Carter, 48, died Tuesday at his residence after 
an extended illness. Graveside services will be held at 2pm Thursday in Macon 
Memorial Park. The Rev. Jim Jacobs will officiate.
 Mr. Carter, a native of Macon, had lived in Commerce for the past 2&1/2 
years. He was a steel worker, a Baptist, and a Korean War veteran.
 Survivors include his wife, Betty P. Carter of Commerce; two sons, Ruck 
Carter of Commerce and J. P. Carter of Warner Robins; a daughter, Mrs. Lonnie 
Taylor of Hattisburg, Miss.; two stepsons, Brian Whitehead of California and 
Randy D. Parker of Vidalia; his mother, Margaret Carter of Commerce; a sister, 
Mrs. Willie A. Bone of Commerce; three brothers, Carl W. Carter and Robert W. 
Carter, both of Macon and Lamar Carter of Midway; and two grandchildren.
 The family will receive friends at Crest Lawn Funeral Home from 7 to 9pm 
today.
 The family may be contacted at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Carter 
of 843 Woodsdale Terrace.

James was born 10-15-1935 to Perue R. Carter and Margaret Elizabeth Davis 
Carter.
