Former Resident Dies in Michigan 
 Funeral Services were held February 17 at Rose Chapel, Algoe-Gundry Mortuary 
at Flint, Michigan, for August Thiese who died February 14, 1950. He was 82 
years old. 
 He was born in Guttenburg, Iowa, December 21, 1867, the son of Wm. and 
Magdalene Thiese.  In 1900, he moved to Alexandria, S. D., and to White Lake 
in 1919, moving to Flint, Michigan in 1936. 
 He was married to Dorothea Ryberg in 1890, at Olewein, Iowa. 
 He was a member of the Lutheran church. 
 He is survived by four daughters: Esther Thiese and Mrs. Frank Kelly, both of 
Flint, Mich.; Mrs Charles Plymal of Dothan, Alabama; and Mrs Albert Fraser of 
Norwalk, Calif.; and two sons---Leonard of Pontiac, Mich.; and Wilfred of 
Flint, Mich.; 15 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildrn; a sister, Mrs Kate 
Bergman, of Rockwell, Iowa; and 3 brothers, Otto, George and Herman Thiese all 
of Iowa. 
 He was proceeded in death by his wife and one son. 
 Internment was made at the Green Hill Cemetery, Alexandria, South Dakota., on 
Monday, February 20th.


Additional Comments:
August lived in While Lake from 1919-1936.  His oldest children graduated from 
White Lake High School.  Ruth Thiese graduated in 1922.  He was farmer most of 
his life.  His son Eldo died near White Lake from injuries sustain in World 
War I.  August married Dora Ryberg in 1890 in Oleween Iowa. Dora died in White 
Lake in 1936.
