F. MARION SHAW, JR.
April 04, 1922
"Marion Shaw sleeps with his fathers. Knightly soul in a
kingly body, he stood above his fellowman in stature as
in mental greatness. Kindly hearted, broad minded, he
gave unselfishly of time and talents to the benefit of
his county, his community and his fellow-man. It was our
privilege to know him well, to work beside him in times
when men were tried in the balance, and we ever found him
thinking of others and not of himself, of his county's
interest and not his own. The world is better that such
men live, for their precept and their example and for the
fruits of their work.

Well and nobly he served in his time; in ripe age he
passes, while yet in Life's sunset, to the Great Beyond,
where the Prince waits beside the Gate to greet His own.
May his rest be peaceful as it is well earned."

EUOLOGY OF F. MARION SHAW, JR.

At Mr. Shaw's death, Mr. E. D. Walker of Tifton, a long-
time friend of the family, was called to be with the
bereaved, Mr. Walker in turn notified Mr. John L.
Herring, editor of the Tifton Gazette, of Mr. Shaw's
death. Mr. Shaw and Mr. Herring had served together as
Berrier County Commissioners before the creation of Tift
or Cook Counties.

Mr. Herring wrote the above eulogy and had it published
in the day's Gazettee, April 04, 1922. Mr. Walker
delayed his departure from Tifton to bring the widow a
copy of that day's paper.
