 Esther Rowan Hilliard, 97, of Adel died June 23, 2004 at Memorial Hospital of 
Adel.

 Born August 18, 1906 in Berrien County to the late Will and Maude Clanton 
Rowan, she was a homemaker, a member of Massee Baptist Church and the Pink 
Ladies Auxiliary. She was married to the late Milton Hilliard.

 Survivors include one son, Rev. Russell Hilliard of Ridge Crest, NC; two 
daughters, Mary Alice Simmons of Pembroke Pines, FL and Vida Hathcock of 
Valdosta; two half-brothers, Billy Rowan of Fitzgerald and Joe Rowan of 
Nashville; 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-
grandchildren.

 Funeral services were held June 27 at 2 p.m. at Massee Baptist Church with the 
Revs. Larry Harris and Terry Reagin officiating. The church choir sang "The Old 
Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace."

 Interment was in Sparks Cemetery.

 Pallbearers were Jesse Henderson, Jerry Joiner, Curtis Hamilton, Lloyd 
Tribble, Tony Harrison, Don Carnine, Jack Bryan, Jody Futch, Jonathan Bryan, 
Jim Rader.

 Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
