 Ben H. Cowart, 77, of Adel died March 6, 2008, at Memorial Hospital of Adel.
 Born March 10, 1930 in Berrien County to the late Joseph Bryant and Minnie 
Leola Akridge Cowart, he was a retired postmaster in Adel. He was an Army 
veteran of the Korean War and member and deacon of Empire Primitive Baptist 
Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Vivian McClellan Cowart.
 Survivors include daughter and son in law, Karen and Mike Redding of Adel; 
three brothers, Albert "Buddy" Cowart, Adel, Joseph "Hub" Cowart, Monroe, NY, 
Johnny Cowart, Lenox; two sisters, Evelyn Godwin and Louise Hendley, both of 
Adel; four grandchildren, Matt Bennett, Emily Bennett, Mitchell Bennett, 
JonMichael Redding, all of Adel. He was preceded in death by daughter, Vickie 
L. Cowart, two sisters, Aline Hendley and Alma Lancaster, and brother, Glyn 
Cowart.
 Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. March 9 at Empire Primitive Baptist 
Church with Elders Clark Lee and Mike McInnis and Rev. John Hendley 
officiating. Sacred Harp sang "How Sweet, How Heaven is the Sight" "Glorious 
Things of Thee Are Spoken" and "Beulah Land."
 Interment was in Empire Church Cemetery.
 Pallbearers were Lance Cowart, Johnny Lancaster, Robert Cowart, Rene Cowart, 
Johnny Hendley, Steve Cowart, Gary Godwin, Larry Lancaster.
 Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home of Adel was in charge of arrangements.
