   Carl William Walker, 87, a long-time resident of Tifton, died Saturday, 
Sept. 24, 2011 at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 
at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with 
Elder Thomas Deal officiating. Burial will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens with 
his grandsons  serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 
to 8 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.
  Born on Feb. 19, 1924 in West Berrien to the late Allen Green Walker and the l
late Emma Luke Walker, Mr. Walker was a retired pressroom foreman for The T
Tifton Gazette and had served in the United States Army Air Corps during World W
War II in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. He was an avid fisherman, who e
enjoyed gardening, farming, woodworking and having his friends and family over t
to his home to eat. Mr. Walker loved his family and was a member of Tifton P
Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in d
death by one brother, Virgil Walker; and two sisters, Mary Lawson and Nancy J
Johnson.
  Survivors include his wife, to whom he was married on June 17, 1943, Almead 
Smith Walker; his son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Donna Walker of Tifton; 
his daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Al Caquelard of Tifton; his brothers and 
sisters-in-law, Jessie and Vera Walker and Roy and Bettye Anne Walker, all of 
Tifton, and Gene and Hilda Walker of Thomasville; his grandchildren, Jeff and 
Robin Blease, Roni and Nat Jones, Garrett and Ann Fiveash, Laura and Landon 
Maxwell, Lisa and Jonathan Hughes and Lee Caquelard; and 12 great-grandchildren,
Alicia 
grandchildren, Alicia Blease, Jennifer Blease, Felicia Manor, Victoria Manor, 
Katie Manor, Dustin Waters, Stormy Fiveash, Madsen Maxwell, Drue Maxwell, Jax H
Hughes, William Maxwell and Lilah Hughes; and many nieces and nephews.
  Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
