Charles ‘Sam’ Solomon
TIFTON — Charles Eston “"Sam"” Solomon, 75, of Tifton, died Thursday,
June 29, 
2006, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Mount Paron Primitive Baptist 
Church of Alapaha, with Elder Charles Tyson officiating. Burial will follow at 
Mount Paron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Shane Smith, Clint Brownlee, Casey Brownlee, Chase Kelly, John Hughes and Josh 
Godwin will serve as pallbearers.
Born July 4, 1930, in Berrien County to the late Mitchell Eston Solomon and 
Rachel Griffin Solomon, Mr. Solomon was also preceded in death by two 
brothers, Tillman Solomon and Harold Solomon.
Mr. Solomon had lived most of his life in Tifton. He served in the U.S. Army 
in Korea and in the Georgia National Guard.
He was a member and deacon of Mount Paron Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. 
Solomon had retired as District Materials Engineer with the Georgia Department 
of Transportation. He was a member of the VFW Post 5250, American Legion Post 
21 and was an honorary member of the DOT Engineers’ Association. He enjoyed 
fishing and collecting guns and knives and he loved his children, 
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Solomon is survived by his wife, Lillie Tucker Solomon of Tifton; three 
daughters and three sons-in-law, Charlene and Roger C. Smith of Brookfield, 
Marlene and Tony Strenth of Sylvester and Melinda Kay and Ken Kelly of Tifton; 
two sisters, Doris Stone and Nell Rose Nugent, both of Alapaha; one brother, 
Talmadge Solomon of Jacksonville, Fla.; his grandchildren, Shane Smith, Mandy 
Smith Godwin, Clint Brownlee, Casey Brownlee, Lee Strenth, Jeremy Strenth and 
Chase Kelly; his great-grandchildren, Ryan and Blake Smith and Jaden Godwin; 
and many nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Mount Paron Primitive 
Baptist Church in Alapaha.
Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
