  The Rev. Charles Nichols, 59, of Tifton died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008 at Tift 
Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Unity 
Baptist Church. The Rev. David Dunn, the Rev. W. E. Fogarty and the Rev. Garvie 
Nichols Jr. will officiate with burial to follow at Oakey Grove Primitive 
Baptist Church Cemetery in Berrien County. Kevin Wood, David Nichols, Henry 
Nichols Jr., Gary Purvis, Joe Grant, Carl Nichols, Jeffery Nichols and David 
Yarbrough will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be William 
Maton, Joe Eubanks, Tommy Conger, Jimmy Norman, George Barfield, Kaylon 
Whitley, Jerry Edwards, Wayne Robinson and Lonnie Harris. The Rev. Nichols was 
born on July 20, 1949 in Tift County and was the son of James Dovward Nichols 
and Aline Conger Nichols, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one 
brother, Johnny Carl Nichols. He was the pastor of Unity Baptist Church in Tift 
County and a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam 
War. The Rev. Nichols is survived by his wife, Susanne Purvis Nichols of 
Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Brian Watson of Watkinsville 
and Jessica and Joey Fletcher of the West Berrien Community; five brothers and 
four sisters-in-law, Harvey and Ellen Nichols, Kenneth Nichols, Henry and Tammy 
Nichols, Calloway and Candy Nichols, all of the West Berrien Community, and 
Garvie Sr. and Waunell Nichols of Enigma; two sisters and brothers-in-law, 
Glenda and Larry Grizzard of Tifton and Dot and Jimmy Grant of Enigma; two 
grandsons, Clayton Lamar Fletcher and Reece Ray Fletcher and one granddaughter, 
Kala Michelle Watson. Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals is in charge of 
arrangements.
