  Dwane Carol Jernigan, 68, of Tifton passed away Monday, August 24, 2015, at 
Tift Regional Medical Center.
 Mr. Jernigan was born October 2, 1945, in Irwin County, the son of the late 
Dwight Drufus and Sarah Dorothy Griffin Jernigan. He was a retired carpenter, 
loved hunting and fishing and was of the Baptist faith.
 Mr. Jernigan is survived by his wife, Donna June Thomas-Jernigan of Tifton; 
son, David Jernigan of Enigma; three daughters, Rain Jernigan of Tifton and 
Holly Mathis and husband, Kenneth and Rachelle Mathis, both of Nashville; his 
step-children, Cassie Wiley of Charlotte, NC, Kimberly Thomas and Dana Thomas, 
both of Tifton and Corey Thomas of Enigma; brother, David Jernigan of Enigma; 
two sisters, Donna Barber of Perry and Dale Sandlin of Lake Park; six 
grandchildren, Case Jernigan, Luke Jernigan, Lake Jernigan, Landry Pittman, 
Samantha Mathis and Cole Mathis; four great-grandchildren; and eight step-
grandchildren, David Montgomery, Jett Wiley, Tyler Wise, Levi Wise, Alexis 
Dotson, Lincoln Dotson, Zachery Thomas and Kadin Thomas.
 A graveside funeral service was held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 27 at Mount 
Paron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Alapaha, where he will be laid to 
rest. Rev. Pat Suggs will officiate with a eulogy to be given by his son, David 
Jernigan.
 Anthony Barnes, Anthony Aultman, Johnny Walker, Chris McCormick, Scott Whitaker 
and David Watson served as pallbearers.
 Honorary pallbearers were Kam Allen, Dwight Jernigan, Hal McMillan, Dalton 
McMillan and Monty Burns.
 Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals was in charge of arrangements.
