 Claude Leavern Dorminey, 75, of Tifton died September 14, 2013 at Tift 
Regional Medical Center.
 He was born on July 20, 1938 in Enigma to the late Wilford Talmadge Dorminey 
and Ruby Iola McMillan. He was also preceded in death by sis, Cecelia Dorminey 
Bruce, and a brother-in-law, Kenny Parker.
 He graduated from Berrien High School, attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural 
College for two years and the University of Georgia for two years and did post-
graduate work for one year at Mississippi State University. He was employed 
with The University of Georgia Cooperative Extension service  and worked for 
the cooperative extension service a total of 30 years in Florida, Alabama and 
Georgia. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy.
 Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Joan Theissen Dorminey of Tifton; his 
children and their families, Cynthia Kim Dorminey of Marble Falls, TX, Jason 
Claude Dorminey and wife Shannon and their children, Ryan, Ashlyn and Tyler of 
Elk Grove, CA, Jan Denise Dorminey Heiner and husband Jared and their children, 
Daniel, Caroline, Lauren and Henry of Meridian, ID; sister, Carolyn Dorminey 
Parker of Alma.
 Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on September 21 at the Church of 
Jesus Christ of latter Day Saints in Tifton. Bishop Derrell Spikes will 
officiate.
  Interment will follow in Tift Memorial Gardens.
 Active pallbearers will include Kasey Bruce, Kelly Bruce, Cecil McMillan, Jim 
Brogdon, Herman Storey, Ken Parker.
 Honorary pallbearers will be the High Priest Group of the Tifton Ward of the 
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and Gilbert Storey, Hugh Holyoak, 
Doran Storey and Bobby Rowan.
 The family will receive friends on Friday, September 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at 
Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
 Bowen-Donaldson home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
