TIFTON -- Vera Daniels Copeland, 92, of Tifton, died Monday, March 15, 
2004, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at New River Baptist 
Church. The Rev. Tony Register and the Rev. Larry Layfield officiated. 
Burial followed at New River Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Garret Wellman, Monty Copeland, Daniel Copeland, Donald 
Anderson, Jimmie Hill and Larry Scarborough.

Deacons of New River Baptist Church served as honorary pallbearers.

Born Oct. 8, 1911, in Tift County, Mrs. Copeland was the daughter of 
John R. Daniels and Ellen McMillan Daniels, both deceased. She was also 
preceded in death by her husband, Elias L. Copeland, who died in 1994; 
a daughter, Catherine Scarborough; a brother, R.R. (Buck) Daniels, and 
two sisters, Lucille Dixon and Eula Daniels.

Mrs. Copeland had lived in Tift County all of her life and was a homemaker 
and a member of New River Baptist Church. She loved to read her Bible daily 
and she loved attending Wednesday morning prayer meeting as well as Sunday 
morning services at her church. She was the oldest member of New River 
Baptist Church and had attended the church for more than 65 years.

Mrs. Copeland was a dedicated farmer's wife for more than 54 years of 
marriage to her husband. She always had a kind word for everybody and 
espoused great wisdom throughout her life. Mrs. Copeland was a devout Christian 
woman.

She is survived by four sons, Lloyd Copeland, Bruce Copeland, Earl Copeland 
and Gerald Copeland, all of Tifton; three daughters, Ruth Hobbs, Margaret Denby 
and Ann Ennis, all of Tifton; one sister, Alice Haley of Riverside, Calif.; 
16 grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals was in charge of arrangements.
