TIFTON -- Ewart Randolph Connor Sr., 84, of Tifton, died Wednesday, 
May 19, 2004, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today, at the Albritton-Beaumont 
Funeral Directors Tiftarea Chapel, with the Rev. Terrell Roberts and Elder 
Lee Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mack Sirmans, Gene Branch, Dennis Connor Darrell 
Fletcher, Ricky Connor, Wesley Purvis, Joel Bruce, Tommy Griffin and Danny 
Griffin Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be W.A. Fletcher and Dan Griffin Sr.

Born, December 28, 1919 in Irwin County, Mr. Connor was the son of the late 
Ewart Washington Connor and Flora Eliza Johnson Connor. He was also preceded 
in death by one brother and four sisters.

He had lived in Tifton all of his life. He was a veteran of World War II, 
serving as a pharmacist mate, U.S. Navy, in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. 
He was affiliated with Connor Brothers' Sawmill before World War II. Following 
his return from service, he owned and operated Connor's Grocery. He loved 
baseball and umpired softball and baseball for little league, high school and 
college.

Mr. Connor is survived by his wife, Malone Purvis Connor; one son, Ewart Connor 
Jr.; two daughters, Barbara Minter and Connie McGarian; one sister, Wetona 
Fletcher and two grandchildren, Cara Lynn McGarian and Nicole Lynn Honaker, 
all of Tifton.

Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors Tiftarea Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
