Will of John Lecky [Sic.]
In the Name of God Almighty I John Leckey of Fayette county in the
commonwealth of Pennsylvania being weak in Body but of sound mind memory
understanding, blessed be God for the same, but Considering the uncertainty
of this life I do make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner
and form following (to wit) Principally and first of all I commend my
immortal soul unto the hands of God who gave it and my body to the earth to
be buried in a decent and Christian like manner at the discretion of my
Executors hereinafter named and as to such worldly Estate wherewith it hath
pleased God to bless me in this life I give and dispose of the same in the
following manner (to wit) It is my will and I do order that all my just debts
and funeral expense be paid and sattisfyd [Sic.] as soon as conveniently can
be after my de[cease]. Item I give and bequeath unto my Dear wife Mary all
my household furniture together with all my beds and beding [Sic.] also my
Mare and her Saddle with her choice of two of my cows and four or my sheep
and her wheel and I do give and bequeath unto my said wife Mary the whole and
Sole use of my dwelling house during her natural life together with a
sufficient of flour and meat and clothing suitable to her position in life
also a Garden and firewood cut and hawled [Sic.] Ready for the fire.
Together with every thing that may be needful to make her comfortable in
health and in sickness during her natural life. also all the fruit of the
young orchard during her life &c. al the foregoing provisions and
accommodations to be furnished and provided in the manner herein hereafter
mentioned I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth Reed one hundred
Dollars out of my personal estate . . .
Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Agness Huston one hundred Dollars
out of my personal Estate. Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Hanna
Dunlap one hundred Dollars out of my personal Estate to be paid out of the
first money that may be collected . . .
Item I give and bequeath unto my Son Thomas ten dollars in addition to the
land I gave and conveyed unto him. Item I give and bequeath unto my Son John
Leckey five dollars in addition to what I have given him to be paid out of my
personal estate &c. . . .
Item I give and bequeath and hereby devise unto my Son Alexander Leckey the
plantation or tract of land where on I now live to have and to hold the said
plantation or tract of land unto him the said Alexander his heirs and assigns
forever Provided always that he the said Alexander his heirs or assigns shall
and do at all times hereafter provide all things by me herein heretofore
willed and bequeathed unto my wife Mary together with pasture in summer and
fodder and feed in winter sufficient for the Creatures or Stock she may at
all times have not excluding the number herein mentioned And provided further
that he the said Alexander in Consideration of the forgoing devise and
bequest shall pay unto my Daughter Elizabeth Reed aforesaid the sum of one
hundred Dollars in four years after my decease which sum I give unto the said
Elizabeth in addition to the sum heretofore bequeathed . . . also that he the
said Alexander pay unto my Daughter Agness Huston aforesaid the sum of one
hundred dollars three years after my decease which sum I give unto the said
Agness in addition to the sum heretofore bequeathed also that he the said
Alexander pay unto Hannah Dunlap aforesaid one hundred Dollars in one year
after my decease which sum I give to the said Hannah in addition to the sum
heretofore bequeathed Also that he the said Alexander pay unto my Daughter
Mary Jinkins one hundred dollars two years after my Decease which sum I give
and bequeath unto her the said Mary together with a further sum of one
hundred dollars to be paid out of my personal Estate And Provided Always and
it is my will and I do order that any quantity of land not exceeding three
fourth of an acre including the grave Yard or burying ground and bounded on
the great Road on my plantation aforesaid be and the same is hereby
p[r]eserved forever and remain free a burying ground for all persons who may
be entitled to a Christian Burial and also Contribute to the Keeping said
grave Yard in repair. And as touching the residue or remainder of my Estate
of every kind or description I do will and bequeath the same unto my wife
Mary aforesaid to be by her enjoyed and at her disposal as she may think
proper Amongst my children at such times & in such portions as she may Choose
. . . . And Lastly I do Nominate Constitute and appoint my son Thomas Leckey
and my Son in Law Thomas Dunlap and James Wilson to be the Executors of this
my last will and hereby revoking all other wills legacies and bequests by me
heretofore made declaring this the foregoing will be my last will and
Testament And no other. . . . In witness where of I have hereunto set my
hand and Seal this eleventh day of March 1818.

These accounts having been exhibited on the Oaths of the accountants,
are submitted to the Honorable the Justices of the Orphans' Court of the
County of Fayette, for the approbation. Due notice of the filing thereof in
the Register's Office, and time of presenting the same for Confirmation,
having been given.
In testimony whereof, I have hereto set my hand, and the Seal of the
Register's Office the 5th day of December, Anno Domini 1827.

Know all men _?_ by these presents that. Whereas John Leckey of Fayette
County in the State of Pennsylvania Deceased by his last will and testament
did give and bequeath unto me Elizabeth Reed wife of Samuel Reed of the
County of Union and the State of Ohio a legacy of two hundred dollars to be
paid unto me in four years after the Decease of the said John Leckey and of
the said will made and constituted Thomas Leckey Samuel Dunlap and James
Wilson of the County of Fayette and State of Pennsylvania Overseers as in and
by said will may appear Now know ye that we Samuel Reed and Elizabeth Reed
his wife of the County of Union and State of Ohio have made ordained
constituted and appointed
John Reed of the County of Union and State of Ohio our true and lawful
attorney for us and in our named and for our own proper use and benefit to
ask demand and receive of and from the said Thomas Leckey Samuel Dunlap and
James Wilson Executed the legacy of two hundred dollars as by the said will
of the said John Leckey may appear as aforesaid and upon receit [sic.]
thereof by or payment thereof to him our said attorney a general release or
discharge for the same to make execute and deliver Hereby rattifying
confirming and allowing all and whatever our said attorney shall lawfully do
in the premises... In Witness whereof we the said Samuel and Elizabeth Reed
have hereunto set our hands and seals this second day of December AD 1826}

me the Subscriber one of the associate Judges of the Court of Common Pleas in
and for said County Samuel Reed and Elizabeth his wife assigned to the within
Power of attorney and severally acknowledged the signing and sealing there of
to be their act and Deed for the purposes therein Expresses . . . Given
under my hand and seal this fourth day of December in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and twenty six. . . . . . .

Reed & Elizabeth Reed to John Reed and they desire the same might be entered
on Record and be available in law for the purpose therein mentioned . . . .
In Testimony whereof I have here unto set my hand & seal the 28th day of

the County formally came Nancy Houston widow of the late Saml. Houston
Deceased formerly Nancy Leckey and acknowledged the foregoing power of
attorney from Saml. Reed & Elizabeth Reed to John Reed and do desire the same
might be
recorded as such and be available in law for the free ___?___ in them

might be recorded and available in law for the purp___ance therein mentioned
