Will of Charles Gause. 11 May 1807. 12 April 1808
Know all men by these presents that I Charles Gause of Fayette County and 
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania  Considering the uncertainty of this mortal life 
do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form 
following, hereby revoking all others;---first I will that all my just debts 
and funeral charges be paid as soon as may be convenient by my Executors 
hereinafter named----Item I give and bequest to Grace my beloved wife all my 
household goods (except what is herein otherwise particularly bequeathed) so 
long as she may live and after her decease to [be] equally divided  amongst my 
children or their heirs, To her also I leave during her natural life the use 
of the dwelling house wherein we now live; and third part of the grain after 
it is shocked in field and the third part of the Indian Corn, and Hay which 
may grow on the land which I give to my son Solomon hereafter mentioned, and 
pasture for one Horse and Cow on said premises  I likewise give her a horse 
and Cow.--- Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary the Sum of Two 
hundred and sixty six Dollars and sixty seven cents to be paid out of my 
personal Estate as soon as my Executors can adjust the accompts and pay the 
Sum. She is also to have such household furniture as is considered and known 
to be her property together with the use of one ( or our) lodging room and the 
one over it upstairs  so long as she remains single after her mother's decease 
and in addition thereto she is to have one other bed, bedstead and beding 
belonging thereto and sufficient therefore and to bed her , chairs, and also 
one half of all the new linens, woolens and other stuffs belonging to me and 
not made up or Converted to some particular purpose, the other half  I do give 
to my beloved wife, I likewise leave to Mary in Trust for my daughter Rachel 
Twenty five Acres of land where Rachel now lives to be held in trust for her 
and children's use and to consulted therto to at her sister Mary's discretion 
an need may require--- Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Amy Twenty five 
acres of land  adjoining to Rachel's, and exclusive of fifteen acres which her 
husband Jonathan Jones has purchased of me and paid for but has not got a 
title for and where he now lives---Item I give to my son Solomon & to his 
heirs & assigns forever all the land belonging to me which is contained  in 
the Tract whereon we live together  with all the appurtenances thereunto 
belonging (excepting and reserving the privileges for his mother and Sister  
herein before mentioned To him I also give all my wearing apparel of every 
kind --- An it is my will that the remainder of Personal Estate after my Debts 
Charges and legacies before mentioned is paid, to be equally divided  between 
all our children or their heirs, Rachel's part paid thereof to be put into the 
hands of her Sister Mary in Trust for her as before mentioned.  I direct that 
my executors convey by legal deed in fee (if not done previous to my decease)
the lot of ground whereon Jonathan Jones now lives containing  fifteen acres 
to him and his assigns forever it being his property tho the Title is vested 
in myselfLastly I do hereby Constitute and appoint Samuel Jackson, Robert, 
Miller and my son Solomon Gause to be Executors to this my last will and 
Testament, in the presence of us who have also subscribed our names in witess 
in the presence of the Testator and each other.          Charles Gause (seal)

Friend Alex Mclean: I must Inform thee that I am very sick and unable to 
attend on the business of Charles Gause's will; this is therefore to notify 
thee that I decline serving as Executor of sd. Will Witness my hand the 12th 
day of the 4th  month 1808.
Fayette Co. Ss: The twelfth day of April Anno Domini 1808 Before me the 
subscriber Register for the probating wills and granting of  Letters of 
Administration in and for said County personally came John Bentley, William 
Trorth Witnesses to Last Will  and Testament and on their Solemn affirmations 
did declare that they saw the testator execute the foregoing writing as and 
for his last Will and Testament when of right mind and that no undue influence 
had been used or late Will made by daid deceased to their Knowledge belief, 
And that they with the other signed their name as witnesses in the presence of 
the Testator. Given under my hand and seal at the Registeres Office  same day.
