In the Name of God Amen That Thomas Batton Senior of Fayette County and State of
Pennsylvania, farmer, being Weak in body and sound and perfect mind and many
thanks be to God and calling to mind the mortality of my body & knowing that it
is appointed unto all men to die I do make and ordain this my last Will &
testament that is to say principally & first of all I recommend my soul into the
hand of God and give my body to be returned to the Earth to be Decently Buried
in a Christian manner at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at
the general resurrection  by the mighty power of God and as Touching such
Worldly Estate as it has pleased God to bless me with I give devise and dispose
of in manner and form following  In primas it is my Will and I do Order that
all my Just Debts and funeral charges be paid and settled by my estate - Item I
give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Batton a certain Tract of Land on Booth's
Creek adjoining the lands of John Thomas to him his heir & assigns forever -
Item I give and Bequeath unto my son Henry Batton a certain Tract of Land Lying
on Paw Paw Creek bounded on the Monongahela River to him his heirs and assigns
forever - Item I give and Bequeath unto my son Joseph Batton Ninety-five Acres
of Land Joining Martin Hardin and Owen Thomas' former tract being a part of my
present Dwelling place to him his heirs and Assigns forever- Item I give and
Bequeath unto my three Daughters two thirds of all my household Goods and
Chattles except one Bed and Bedding and large bible which I will to my Daughter
Lydia to Robert Thornton's Daughter Jemmima the remainder of the two thirds
that remains after to my descease (excepting one cow one sorrel mare and
.which I will to my Daughter Lydia) to be sold and the price thereof to be
equally Divided between my children Except my son Joseph Batton to their heirs
and assigns forever - Item I do hereby Constitute, Ordain and Appoint Samuel
Rubal and John Swaringer Junior to be my Executors of this my Last Will and
Testament I disavow and make void all other Wills and Testaments in my name
ratifying & Confirming this and this only to be my Last Will & Testament in .my
hand and seal this seventh Day of February, One thousand seven hundred and
Eighty five  Signed, Sealed, Published, Pronounced and Delivered by Thomas Battin 
Will & Testament in presents of us:
Theopolis Philips, Thomas Berry, David Morgan
The undernamed Joseph Batton do find myself in the sum of One Thousand pounds
lawful money of Pennsylvania to Thomas Batten Senior to stand to and abide by
the above Will of my father Thomas Batten from under my hand and seal this 7th
day of February 1785
