 John Lamar "J.L." Sellars, 82, of Nashville died November 14, 2007 at South 
Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta.
 Born October 28, 1925 in Valdosta to the late Sallie Mae Byrd and J.L. 
Sellars, Sr., he was a logger. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and a member 
of Hope Baptist Church. He loved fishing, traveling, car racing and gardening.
 Survivors included his wife, Lucile Sellars of Nashville; two sons and a 
daughter in law, Dewayne and Sylvia Sellars of Conyers, Danny Truman of Brooks 
County; sister, Louise DeLoach of Hahira; two brothers and a sister-in-law, 
Raymond Sellars and Rev. Milton and Pat Sellars of Valdosta; grandchildren, Jay 
Sellars, Tracy Fisher; stepchildren, Gene (Becky) Nelms of Memphis, TN, Gary 
(Susan) Nelms, Teresa (Bob) Miller, all of Nashville; special step daughter in 
law, Linda Nelms of Valdosta; 11 step grandchildren; great-grandchild, Jacob 
Dalton Fisher; numerous step great grandchildren; sister, Louise DeLoach of 
Hahira; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first and 
second wives, Alice Southerland and Irene Sellars and a step son, Davis Michael 
Nelms.
 Funeral services were held Nov. 17 at Hope Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with the 
Revs. Steve Pickern and Milton Sellars officiating.
 Interment was in Cat Creek Cemetery in Lowndes County.
 Carson McLane Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
