The Cairo Messenger, Friday, January 17, 1919
Mrs. A. L. Plowden Dies In Valdosta

The shocking news of the death of Mrs. Andrew L. Plowden at her home in
Valdosta was received here Wednesday noon with deepest regret by her many
friends.

She had been ill for about ten days with influenza and pneumonia. She was well
known here as Miss Currie Ausley, she with her mother and brother moved to
Cairo from Slocum, Ala., about ten years ago and they made Cairo their home
until she married Mr. Plowden in November, 1913.
Since that time Valdosta has been her home; but as her mother remained here
until January, 1918, she was a constant visitor to Cairo up to that time. She
was a young woman of 25 years, a consistent member of the Presbyterian church.
As the saying goes: "She numbered her friends by her acquaintances." This may
truly be said of Mrs. Plowden, being cheerful at all times, having a smile for
everyone, won the admiration of even acquaintances. Why such a life should be
cut so short is a mystery that God only can understand.

The funeral services were held in Valdosta Thursday afternoon. She leaves her
husband, Mr. A. L. Plowden of Valdosta; her mother, Mrs. Nannie Ausley of
Valdosta and her brother, Mr. L. M. Ausley of Plant City, Fla. to cherish her
beautiful life.
