The Berrien Press -- Talmadge Hendley, 86, of Valdosta died Sept. 21. 21, 2008 
at Tift Medical Center Nursing Home.
 He was born in Berrien County on Mar. 31, 1922 to the late Elizabeth and Rev. 
Archie Hilton Hendley. After graduating from high school, he completed his 
training class with highest honors and served with the U.S. Navy on the USS 
Richmond as Gunner Mate in charge of Armory. Following WWII, he farmed in 
Atkinson County until the early 1950s when he moved to Valdosta to work with 
Owens Illinois Pulp Mill. He was a faithful member and usher at Northside 
Baptist Church. He enjoyed his work, fishing and hunting. He was preceded in 
death by his first wife of 34 years, Lou Daniel Hendley; and his second wife 
of 23 years, Robby Futch Hendley.
 Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Susan Hendley of 
Nashville; step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Judy and Bennie Butler of 
Albany; step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Rusty and Renee Futch of Lake Park; 
grandchildren, Kristi and David Spring of Nashville, TN, Donna and Frank Casey 
of Warner Robins, Ty and Debbie Hendley of Nashville, Kim of St. Augustine, 
FL; great-grandchildren, Tyler Spring and Isaac Spring, Dalton Smith, Shelby 
Smith, Chip Coshow; brother, Clifton Hendley of Nashville; sisters, Mary 
Griner of Nashville, Reva Ruslin of Douglas, Lona Faye Moseley and Vern Bower 
of Dallas. He was also preceded in death by a son, Travis T. Hendley, a 
sister, Idell Dunn, and brothers, Breman, Julian and Hilton Hendley.
 Funeral services were held Sept. 25 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Carson McLane 
Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Burial followed in 
Riverview Memorial Gardens.
 Carson McLane Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
