Mathews Funeral Home - Obituaries
The graveside funeral service of Eloise (Hiers) Hammock of Doncaster Drive, 
Albany, GA, who passed away June 24, 2007 at the tender age of 95, will be 
conducted Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Riverside Cemetery. The 
Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate. 

Mrs. Hammock moved to Albany with her husband, Jesse James Hammock, in 1936 
from Valdosta, GA. She was born October 18, 1911 in Lowndes County, GA, and her 
parents were Daniel Perry Hiers and Margaret Louise (Connell) Hiers.  Aside 
from living for a few years in Jacksonville, FL, Mrs. Hammock lived in Albany 
for seventy-one years. She was a homemaker and a member of Westview Baptist 
Church.

Mrs. Hammock was preceded in death by her husband (who passed away in 1979), 
two sons, Raymond James Hammock (1944) and Richard Arlan Hammock (2000).  Nina, 
as she was fondly called by her grandchildren, is survived by two daughters, 
Margaret Ann Benton (Robert C.) of Albany, GA, (whom she lived with) and Patsy 
Smith (Herb W.) of Jacksonville, FL.

  Survivors also include her seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and 
two step-grandchildren. Her seven grandchildren are, Candy (Benton) Corley and 
Robin (Benton) Wiggins of Albany, Robert Perry Benton of Fayetteville, NC, 
Julie D'Armato and Tina Gable (David) all of Jacksonville, FL, Arlen Hammock of 
CO and Taigne Hammock of CA ten great-grandchildren, Alisha Ann Wiggins of 
Albany and Ralph Lee (Buddy) Wiggins II of Ft. Benning, Christopher, McLain and 
Danielle Suttles of Jacksonville, Annabelle, Noah, Sam , Seth and Daniel 
D'Armato all of Jacksonville, step-great-grandchildren, Lauren Gables and 
Stephanie Rutland both of Jacksonville.

The family will receive friends, (today) Tuesday, from 7:00 P.M. until 8:00 
P.M. at Mathews Funeral Home.
