Atkinson County Citizen - July 14, 2005
 Mr. David Quitman Fender, age 71, of Blairsville, GA formerly of Valdosta, GA 
passed away Thursday, July 7, 2005 in Blairsville, GA following a short illness.

 A native of Atkinson County, Mr. Fender was born March 18, 1934 son of Fisher 
and Sara Joyce Fender. He retired from the paper mill in Clyattville after 42 
years of employment and moved to Blairsville where he had resided for six 
years. His wife Mary Eliza McDuffie Fender preceded him in death.

 Survivors include daughter, Cathy Sasnett and husband David of Pinetta, FL; 
three sons Roger Fender and wife Jeanne of Bedford, TX, Ronnie Fender and 
Johnny Fender; sister, Mary Manning of Woodbine, GA. Six grandchildren and 
several nieces and nephews also survive.

 Graveside funeral services and interment for Mr. Fender were held at 11 a.m. 
on Monday, July 11, 2005 at New Bethel Cemetery in Pearson, GA with Rev. Carlie 
Lastinger officiating. Special music included "In His Arms I'm not Afraid" 
rendered by the Sweetwater Creek Singers with D.Q. Pittman on the guitar, Huey 
Bennett on the mandolin and Neal Gillis on the banjo.

 Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
