James Burgsteiner, Retired Inspector, For Railroad, Dies

The Florida Times-Union, Jacksonville, Fla.  Nov. 5, 1955.

James Davis Burgsteiner, 84, retired yard inspector for the
Atlantic Coast Line Railroad, died in a local convalescent
home yesterday after a long illness.

Mr. Burgsteiner, who made his home at 159 Ocean Blvd.,
Atlantic Beach, was born in Lowndes County, GA., and lived
at Savannah for many years before moving here some 15 years
ago. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Alaric L. Taylor of
Gainesville, Mrs. Ben Leon Tullis of Atlantic Beach and Mrs.
Ernest M. Parker of Jacksonville; two sisters, Mrs. D. L.
Walker of Perrine and Mrs. Perry G., Moore of Valdosta, Ga.;
a brother, Ben L. Burgsteiner of Valdosta, and two
grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today in the
Hardage and Sons Funeral Chapel, 517 Park St., with the Rev.
Carroll Kendrick, minister of the Neptune Chapel,
officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. The
family asks that flowers not be sent.
