The many friends of Mrs. Sallie E. Boring will learn with regret of her
passing away at 6:15 last evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. T.M.
Coppedge. Besides Mrs. Coppedge, she leaves three other daughters, Mrs. J.B.
Land, of Reynolds, GA., Mrs. M. Godbolt, Mrs. J. J. McCranie, Jacksonville,
and three sons, W.C. and J. Boring, of Waldo and A.W. Boring, of Tampa. The

Additional Comments:
Sallie Boring was born Sarah Ellen Stephens in 1843 in Lowndes County, GA. Her
parents were John and Martha Stephens. She was married in 1864 to Joseph W.
Boring, who died in 1903 in Valdosta. Part of their nearly 40-year-marriage was
spent in Valdosta and part in Waldo, FL, where his parents and some of their
children settled. After Joseph's death, she moved to Florida and lived with
her children. This obituary was obtained through the Orange County Public
Library "Ask-a-Librarian" reference service.
