Dr. John Boring Passed Away Late Wednesday Evening
He Had Been Ill About Two Weeks, Having Suffered a Paralytic Stroke

Dr. John A. Boring died Wednesday afternoon at 6 o'clock at the residence
of his son-in-law, Mr. W.A. Griffith, where he had lain ill for about two weeks.
He suffered a paralytic attack about two weeks ago while residing at his place
six miles below the city. He came to the city at once where he could get the
best medical treatment, as well as better nursing than he could have gotten so
far from the city.
His condition was thought to be improving until Tuesday night when he
suffered another attack and continued to decline until death came to end his
sufferings.
Dr. Boring was about sixty-seven years of age and had resided in this
section since the war [Civil War]. He was a native of Walton County and moved
to Valdosta from Social Circle. He practiced medicine for a number of years
but gave up that practice and retired to his farm a few miles below the city.
He moved to the city several years ago and resided here for a long time
but returned to his country place last spring and has lived there with his wife
and younger children ever since. His wife, who was formerly Miss Sarah
Kornegay, survives him, together with ten children, most of them grown, and two
of them by his first wife.
The funeral services were conducted at the residence of Mr. Griffith
yesterday and the interment occurred at the family burial ground at the country
place, Rev. O.B. Chester officiating.
The deceased was a consistent member of the Methodist Church, a quiet,
conscientious man and a good citizen. His death will be regretted by all who
knew him.

Additional Comments:
Dr. Boring's country place was on the Boring Pond Road off the Old Statenville
Road in SE Lowndes County. He was the son of Joseph and Harriet Means Boring.
His brother Joseph died about five weeks later (see his obituary).
