Rev. Joseph Davis, aged seventy-four years, died in Wilcox County on Friday, 
September 3d.  The deceased was an elder of the Primitive Baptist Church, and 
was a old citizen of this section.


Additional Comments:
Compiler Notes:  Joseph and his wife Elizabeth (Moore) who had married in 
Irwin County 18 August 1825.  They were members of New Hope Baptist Church 
when Joseph was ordained a minister in 1845.  One must remember the Primitive 
Baptist Churches were formed after 1836. His 1st wife Elizabeth Moore is 
buried by her self in a wooden fenced off area.  Elder Davis is buried out in 
front of her area by his second wife Sarilda Cason who he married 1 Nov 1874 
in Wilcox County., Georgia.
