Viola Pearl Ross
and
Madie C. Ewing

Viola Pearl Ross and Madie C. Ewing, 89 both died recently and were honored 
with a double funeral Sunday, February 22, 1998 at 2:30 p.m. at Church of God 
By Faith in Ocilla with Minister Larry Lee officiating.
Mrs. Ross was the daughter of the late Julius and Dollie Goolsby and was born 
in Dodge County. She was a member of the Church of God By Faith where she. 
served as a first Mother of the Church.
Survivors include her children, Clarence Ross of Ocilla; Altamae Wilson of 
Ocilla, Iris Nell Moore of Orlando, FL, Willie Mae Smith of Felleseme, FL, 
William Ross of Fitzgerald, C.J. Ross, Ruby Arnold, David Ross, Roosevelt Ross; 
Blondell Prater, Terry and Lerven, Sally and Jalynn Harris, althea Ross, all of 
Ocilla; Cleo Young of West Palm Beach, FL; two brothers, Sherman Goolsby of 
Douglas, Johnny Goolsby of Fitzgerald; one sister, Hattie Ellis; 84 
grandchildren, 143 great-grandchildren and 36 great-great grandchildren, a host 
of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Ewing was born in Telfair county December 25, 1908, the daughter of Scott 
and Mollie McDuffie Campbell.
Survivors include three daughters, Autherine Robinson of Fitzgerald; Sadie Ross 
of Ocilla and Hattie Pearl Patterson of Dothan, AL; two sons, Eddie James and 
Ossie Lee Campbell, both of Dothan, AL; 68 grandchildren, a host of great-grand 
children, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The grandchildren of Mrs. Ross sang a song and reflections given on both women. 
Pallbearers were family members and friends.
Interment for Mrs. Ross was in the .Ocilla Cemetery and Mrs. Ewing's interment 
was at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Irwin county. 
Davis Funeral Home and Hall's Funeral Home were in charge of the arrangements.
