 Myrtle S. Purvis

   Mrs. Myrtle S. Purvis, 84, died Wednesday, December 17, 1997 at Tift Health 
Care in Tifton.
    Mrs. Purvis was born June 27,1913 in irwin county, the daughter of Gus and 
Omie Turner Sharpe. She
  had lived in Irwin county all of her life and was a member of Riverbend 
Baptist Church where she was a
  member of the Ladies Circle. She was a homemaker and farm wife.
 Survivors include daughter-in-law, Melba Purvis of Ocilla; grandchildren Lamar 
& Dale Purvis and Joie
 Lamanda & Randall Busbin all of Ocilla; one sister, Edith Harrell of Winter 
Haven, FL; three brothers,
 Larent Sharpe of Fulton, MS; Lawton Chaney of Brunswick and J.P. Chaney of 
Douglas; two great grandchildren, Marla Purvis and Jed Purvis both of Ocilla.
  Carolyn Cox served as pianist.
    Pallbearers were Donald Cleghorn, Gary W. Nelms, Brad Purvis, Eddie 
Giddens, Tony Tucker and Allen Green. Honorary pallbearers were Herman Purvis, 
Frank
 Purvis, Elsie Leverette, Lamar Green, Reggie Paulk, Ernest Rountree and Ronnie 
M. Brogdon.
 Funeral services were held Friday, December 19, 1997 at 2:30 p.m. at Riverbend 
Baptist Church in Irwin
 county with Rev. Gary Clements and Rev. George Paulk officiating.
  Interment was in Riverbend Cemetery.
 Paulk Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
