 J.B. .Parker Sr.
J.B. Parker Sr., 88, of Clayton, died Monday, March 23, 1998 in Clayton.
Born June 11, 1909 in Sylvester, he was retired from self-employment as 
a barber.
He was a member of Clayton Baptist Church; member Friendship Sunday 
School Class; was chairman on the board. of Deacons, member on the board 
of trustees for Clayton Baptist Church; the former mayor of Clayton 
(five terms); past master Rabun Gap Lodge 265 F&AM, 55year member.
Also, Member of Rabun Chapter 164 Order of Eastern Star, Clayton; past 
Worthy Patron, 50 year member; president of Ninth District, Georgia 
Municipal Association and member of board of directors of the Georgia 
Municipal Association.
Also, honorary member of the Governor's staff for Eugene Talmadge, 
Herman Talmadge, Carl Sanders, Lester Maddox, Jimmy Carter, Joe Frank 
Harris and George Busbee; a charter member of Clayton Fire Department; 
member of Rabun County Hospital Board; member of Clayton Chamber of 
Commerce; 32 York Rite Mason.
Also, member Yarrab Shrine Temple, Atlanta; member Woodmen of the World; 
owner of Parker's Barbershop on North Main Street and owner of Clayton 
Laundromat on Savannah Street in Clayton.
He was the son of the late Archie Parker and the late Stella Lewis Parker.
Survivors include his wife,     Bertie Tucker Parker formerly of   
Ocilla; sons, J.B. Parker, Jr., of Alpharetta, Tom Parker of  Clayton; 
daughters, Treasure Parker Benson of Alpharetta and nephew J.H. Hunt of 
Clayton; brother, John Parker of S. Miami, FL; grandchildren, Leanne 
Parker Hughes, James Bryan Parket;, Elaine Parker Ramey; Julie, Bert, 
and Scott Benson; Maria J. Boone Parker; great-grandchildren, Joshua B. 
Parker, Ben and Josie Ramey, and Hannah Hughes,nephews, Archie Hunt and 
C.B Hunt, both of Tampa, FL; niece  Martha Faye Ackerman of Macon and 
Geneva Crawford of Moultrie
Funeral services were held at 2  p.m. Thursday, March 26, Clayton 
Baptist Church. The Rew Mike Campbell officiated.
Burial was in Rabun Memorial Park, Tiger.
