  Connie Henderson

   The funeral service for Connie Tanner Henderson of Ocilla, who died 
Friday, December 26 1997 at Tift General Hospital, was held Sunday, 
December 28 at Brushy Creek Cemetery. She was 91.
   Rev. John Gibbs and Hugh Roberts officiated at the 4:00 p.m. service 
with interment in the church cemetery.
   Music was furnished by the Bethlehem Baptist Church Choir with Jennie 
Paulk at the piano.
   Pallbearers were Keith Gibbs, Eddie Giddens, Bruce Giddens, Carey 
Norton, Jerry Coley, Charles Giddens, and Lamar Purvis.   Honorary 
attendants were her   Sunday School Class at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 
Irwin.
  The deceased was born July 23, 1906 in Heard County to Benjamin 
Franklin "Buck" and Mary Archer Tanner. A homemaker and widow of Rev. 
Eddie Lee Henderson, she was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and 
had lived in Irwin County since 1917, moving to the Waterloo community 
at the age of 14. She and Mr. Henderson were married in 1923 and opened 
Henderson's Store on Lax Highway in 1927, operating it for 25 years. 
Mrs. Henderson was a former employee of Weaver Peanut, Ocilla, as a 
peanut grader. She was also an avid fisherman.
 She is survived by three daughters: Sue N. Norton and Edith H. (Charles 
R.) Giddens, both of  Ocilla and Jane H.(Jerry W.) Coley Of Tifton.; one 
brother: Lloyd Tanner of the Waterloo Community; two sisters: Leila 
Heard of Chula and Ruby Carr, of Tifton; son-in-law: Jackie Lee Clark 
and daughter-in-law: Martiel Henderson, both of Ocilla; ten 
grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 
daughter Helen Clark, son Rev. J. B. Henderson grandson, Jerry Carroll 
Henderson and son-inlaw, Bascom Norton.
 Paulk Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
