Martha S. Harper

The funeral service for Martha S. Harper of Rt. 1, Wray, who died 
Friday, January 24, 1997 at her residence, was held Sunday, January 26 
at Satilla Baptist Church in Irwin county.  She was 79.
   Rev. Dan Johnson and Rev. Bobby Rodgers officiated with eulogy by 
Linda Kay Pope and Danny Byrd at the 2:00 p.m. service. Interment was in New
Hope Cemetery in Ambrose.
The deceased was born March 4,1917 in Telfair county, GA to Lon and 
Rebecca Boney Studstill.  A homemaker and widow of Lester Harper, she 
was a member of Satilla Church and former owner-operator of The Thimble 
Fabric Shop in Ocilla.    Mrs. Harper had lived in the community most of 
her life and was a graduate of Milan High School. She was a former 
Sunday School secretary and a member of the Ladies Outreach,and also a 
member of the Ocilla Garden Club.
      She is survived by one son: Leon Harper of Wray, one daughter: 
Faye H. Paulk of Douglas; four sisters: Lonnie Jean Larkey of 
Jacksonville,Ga, Doris Padgett, Mary Boney and  Marquerite McCranie, all 
of Warner Robins; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was 
preceded in death by two
sisters.
Paulk Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
