Camden County, Missouri Obituaries - William B. Neely

do not have the press name for it.

William Burton Neely

Died, at his home on route 1 Montreal, Mo.,Wednesday
May 2 1916, William B. Neely ,aged, 75 years, 4 months
and 27 days. There years ago he suffered a stroke of
paralyses but recovered this spring. he contracted the
grip and acute bronchitis which proved too severe a
tax upon his vitality. He served through the war with
the Rebellion in company G, 8th regiment, Mo., State
militia volunteer cavalry and in the home guards. At
the close of the war he was in a skirmish in Miller
county, Mo., __________ where Kaiser post office now
is, with some Confederates that were passing through.
In this skirmish, Sam Salsman, Ben Jefferies and Joe
Earp were killed. He was mounted on a fast mare
belonging to James Garrison, otherwise he would have
met the fate of his three comrades.
He bore his suffering _______tience and was conscious
last few minutes of his life. As the family were at
his bedside except a son, B. R. Neely, of Ag__
Oklahoma, who was summoned by message but did not
arrive until after his fathers death.
The singing was lead by Rev. James Foster and a short
funeral service was conducted by Rev. R D Fudge. The
remains were laid to rest in Freedom cemetery
