This was the homeplace of John T. Lewis and Lucinda Craddock Lewis. John was the
son of Samuel J. Lewis and Malinda C. Bryant. Lucinda was the daughter of German
Craddock and Frances Cruise. This home is located in the forest off Union Church
Road in a very rural area of Patrick County, Virginia. This home is located
behind the current home of Brenda Adams and is about 3/4 mile in the woods below
her home near an old roadbed that was apparently called the Dodson road. A letter
was found in the home that dated back to the Civil War so it is thought that home
was built prior to the war. It is still standing as of November 30, 2020. There
is a family cemetery nearby that has proven to be quite elusive to locate thus
far.
