Atkinson County Citizen - November 2004
 Mr. David L. Melton, age 72, of Douglas, GA passed away Tuesday, November 16, 
2004 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, GA following an extended 
illness.

 A native of Washington D.C., Mr. Melton was born May 13, 1932 son of Grace 
Maude Melton. He was retired meat cutter and a member of Faith Mission Assembly 
of God Church. Mr. Melton was also a member of American Legion Post 18 and U.S. 
Army Veteran of the Korean War.

 Survivors include wife, Joyce Edmonds Melton of Douglas, GA, 5 daughters, 
Debra Ball and husband Wayne of Falmouth, VA, Cindy Fowler and husband Richard 
of Ladysmith, VA, Pam Chambers and husband Charlie of Orange, VA, Cheryl Volz 
and husband David of Leedstown, VA, Michelle Boutchyard of Ladysmith, VA, 10 
grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild, Dana Young of Douglas, 2 step-grandchildren 
and 5 great grandchildren also survive.

 Funeral services for Mr. Melton were held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 19, 2004 
at Faith Mission Assembly of God Church with Rev. Elaine Keene and Rev. Steven 
Keene officiating. Special musical selections included "Go Rest High On That 
Mountain" rendered by Keven Batten accompanied by tape, "I Can't Even Walk 
Without You Holding My Hand" rendered by the Praise and Worship Team 
accompanied by Betty Jo Bridgmond at the piano and "Come on Home" rendered by 
Betty Jo Bridgmond and Mary Jordan with Betty Jo Bridgmond accompanying at the 
piano. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was provided by Betty Jo 
Bridgmond, pianist. 

 Interment followed in Satilla Memorial Gardens with Military Honors conducted 
at the gravesite by an Honor Guard Contingent from Ft. Stewart, GA.

 Serving as active pallbearers were Ronald Rhymes, Randall Rhymes, Jimmy 
Jordan, Ronnie Moore, David Oglesby and Brian Beard.

 Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of arrangements.
