Hearts were saddened as friends learned of the passing away of a beloved Coffee
Co. gentleman, Mr. George Henderson Day, age 72, of Broxton.  Mr. Day passed
away Tuesday afternoon, November 7, 1978 at Coffee General Hospital following a
very brief illness.

Mr. Day was born on December 1, 1905 in Coffee Co., GA.   He was the son of
James Henderson Day and Boyce Carver Day.  He was life long resident of Coffee
County and good neighbor and friend to many.  Mr. Day was prominent farmer and
member of Bethany Holiness Baptist Church.  Residing at Route One, Broxton, Mr.
Day's home was the scene of many nights of fellowship with family and friends
over delicious dinners or a good old-time cane grinding and syrup making.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, November 9th at Bethany Holiness
Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Vaughn, the Rev. Leroy Carver, and the Rev.
A.J. Giddens jointly officiating.  Interment followed in the Bethany Church
Cemetery.

Special music was rendered by D.L. Brantley, pianist, Bobbie Brantley, Mr. and
Mrs. L.W. Spells of Hazelhurst, GA.  Active pallbearers were Dwain Stapleton
[grandson-in-law], Jon Smith [grandson], Chris Day [grandson], Wayne Day
[grandson], Paul Day [grandson], Jerome Day [grandson], Sherrell Day [nephew],
and Alvin Graham, Jr. [grandson].

Honorary pallbearers were Curtis Carver, Aubrey Day [cousin, not his son], Harry
Doss, Harvel Doss, Lawson Mosley, Dan Wall, Mack Jowers, Carl Atkinson, R.E.
Currin, Dr. E.D. Bell, W.E. Garrison, Lewis Sapp [sheriff], J.H. Carver, Oscar
Patton, Earl Day, Dewey Hinson, and Odis Jackson [brother-in-law].

Mr. Day is survived by his [second] wife: Mrs. Hortense McVoy Reeves Day,
Broxton; four daughters: Mrs. Chester Wooten [Delorice], Broxton; Mrs. Lawson
Smith [Betty Carol], Douglas; Mrs. Larry Renew [Joann], Broxton; Mrs. Alvin
Graham [Willene], Hazelhurst; five sons: Rev. Edward Day, Broxton; Adron Day,
Valdosta; James Day, Douglas; Aubrey Day, Broxton; Leroy Day, Douglas;  three
sisters: Mrs. Viola Mobley, Wray; Mrs. Tally Purvis, Ambrose; Mrs. Hoyt Hope,
Douglas;  four brothers: Ernest Day, Ambrose; Lebron Day, Centerville; five
step-daughters and two step-sons; 31 grandchildren and 27 great grand children.
