Atkinson County Citizen - May 25, 2006
 Mr. Joe Elton Davis, age 68 of Douglas, GA passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 
2006, at home after an extended illness. Mr. Davis, a native of Atkinson 
County, GA was born February 10, 1938, son of the late James Edison and Leona 
Blocker Davis.
 He was a retired painter and a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
 His church membership was at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 
in Douglas Georgia. 
 Daughters, Tammy Davis Jacobs and Vickie Belinda Davis preceded him in death.
 Survivors include his wife, Mary Davis, Douglas, GA; daughter, Pamela Adams, 
Nicholls, GA; son, Brent Elton Davis, Douglas; brothers, Kenneth Davis, Spanish 
Fort, Utah, Larry Davis, Wellington, Utah; grandchildren, Michael Herman Adams, 
Jr., Jason Homer Adams, Casey Joe Adams, Cody Lamar Vining, Jana Brooke 
Hollinger, Christy Nicole Hutchison, Haley Belinda Davis Courtney Brooks 
Vickers; six great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
 Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday May 19, 2006 at The Church of 
Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Pearson, GA with Bishop Steve Sirmans, 
Elder Kenneth Davis & Elder Larry Davis officiating . The congregation 
sang "Because I Have Been Given Much," "Count Your Many Blessings," and "I Know 
My Redeemer Lives." Graveside services with taped selection of "Go Rest High On 
That Mountain" and Military Personnel of Moody Air Force Base presenting the US 
Flag to family and burial followed in the Utah Cemetery near Axson, GA.
 Active pallbearers were Nathan Chaney, Tom Gregory Wooten, Tim Hall, L.C. 
Porter, Josh White, Allen Pittman, Tim Jenks, Jeff Chaney.
 Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
