Mrs. Chaires, a native of Coffee County, Georgia was born on January 17, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Stanford and Margaret McMillan Sears. She moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1950, she lived and worked there at the Haskell Company retiring after 25 years and moved back to Douglas. She is the widow of the late Carl Hendrick Chaires and a member of the Carver Baptist Church. Survivors include daughter: Ann C. Cooper, Jacksonville, Fl.; sons: David Chaires and Kenny (Kathy) Chaires, Las Vegas, NV., brothers: Bryan Sears and Charles Byrd, Douglas, GA; sisters: Dorothy Cliett, Denton, GA and Geraldine Johnson , Douglas, Ga.; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held a at 10:00 A.M., on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at Carver Baptist Church in Douglas Ga. with Rev. Michael Aldridge officiating. Burial followed in the Evergreen Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida at 3:00 p.m. Active pallbearers were members of the senior adult Sunday school class.
