 Gary Leroy Bennett, 77, of Douglas died October 8, 2013, at Coffee Regional 
Medical Center following an extended illness.
 He was born May 17, 1936, in Enigma to Rev. Thomas Olem Bennett of Nashville 
and the late Audrey Bennett.
 Survivors, in addition to his father, include his wife, Elaine Herndon Bennett 
of Douglas; two sons, Tommy Bennett and Jerry (Kim) Bennett, all of Douglas; 
two daughters, Vivian Bennett and Rose (Vic) Suttles, all of Douglas; two 
brothers, Lavern Bennett of Enigma and Ronald Bennett of Nashville; sister, 
Waunell Nichols of Enigma; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren; several 
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Coretha Bennett.
 Funeral services were held October 10 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Sims Funeral 
Home with the Revs. Jackie Connell and Tony Roberts officiating.
 Interment followed at Harrell Grove Church Cemetery. Music was furnished by 
Ferrell Burke who sang "Beulah Land" and the congregation who sang "Amazing 
Grace."
 Pallbearers were Parker Borland, Bobby Marzbanian, Joel Adams, Robbie Smith, 
Zac Suttles, Glenn Cooper.
 Sims Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
