W. I. Futch Succumbs in Fitzgerald Oct. 28 From Typhus Fever
     W. I. Futch died in the Fitzgerald hospital Saturday night.  He was 
carried there Oct. 22nd after having contracted typhus fever.  Mr. Futch was 
75 years old.  He was born in Thomas county but had lived in Wilcox county 
since he was four years old and was a resident of the Ryals Mill district, 
where he was a leading citizen of the community.  He was first married to Miss 
Johnnie McDuffie, a member of a very prominent family fo the county.  To this 
union there are five living children.  Some time after his wife's death he 
married Mrs. Alice Jackson, who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Cook.  To 
this union were born two children.  Surviving Mr. Futch are:  his wife; three 
sons:  J. P. Futch and T. A. Futch of Rochelle, and Raymond Futch of 
Abbeville; four daughters:  Mrs. J. C. Cook, West Palm Beach, Fla.; Mrs. H. H. 
Hutchinson of Tifton; Mrs. J. A. Hearn of Abbeville, and Mrs. Lonnie Bruce of 
R.F.D. Rochelle; also several grand children survive, along with a host of 
other relatives all over the county.  He was related ot the Dosters, Blues and 
McLeods.
     The funeral was held at Liberty Hill church Sunday afternoon, although he 
had been a member of Cedar Creek church for over 60 years.  Services were 
conducted by Rev. J. B. Pate, who was his pastor at Cedar Creek for 12 years.  
He was assisted by Rev. A. R. Waters and Rev. Mr. Braziel of Rochelle.  After 
serices the body was laid to rest in the family lot of this church.  pall 
bearers were grandsons:  Reuben Futch, Alvin [Alvis] Futch, Harry Futch, E. C. 
Futch, Paul Hearn and Jimmie Clifford Hearn.  Honorary pall bearers were:  O. 
C. Holt, J. C. Holt, J. F. Nance, L. C. Goodin, N. A. Statham, W. T. Standard, 
W. C. Cook, N. M. Conner and Geo. T. Cook.  One of the largest crowds to 
attend a funeral were out to show their respects to this good man.
     Some of the relatives present were:  Mr. and Mrs. E. J. cook and daughter 
Wilma Cook, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Cook and daughter Mildred, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil 
Cook and little son.  Mrs. A. W. Coble of West Palm Beach, Fla., is a step 
daughter.  She was unable to attend on account of sickness.

Additional Comments:
William Isaac Futch was born 22 September 1864 in Thomas Co., GA.  His parents 
were John Futch and Susan (Doster) Futch.
