YMCA 'giant' dies
By Sandi Olson

THOMASVILLE -- The "why" in George Everett's life was always clear as his
dedication to the Y -- family, community and church.

The 71-year-old leader, who retired after more then 35 years with the
Thomasville YMCA and Youth Center, Inc., fell victim to a heart attack Sunday
morning, yet the fruits of his work in the community will be continue for
generations to come.

"His passions were his family, the community and the church. I can honestly
say that," said son John Everett. "He really gave of himself and impacted so
many lives. He was very much a servant of the people."
