MRS. AZELEEN COX,
ELDERLY RESIDENT 
OF MEIGS PASSES
        
Funeral Services Held at
Pierce  Church  for  91 -
Year  Old  Resident

   Cairo, Ga., April  22- - Funeral
services were held at Pierce church
yesterday for Mrs. Azleen Cox, 90-
year old resident of the Meigs sec-
tion who died at her home on Route
one, near that community, of para-
lysis, following a week's illness.
   The services were conducted by
Rev. W.  E.  McTier  assisted  by
Rev. Jesse  Hurst  and  Rev. F.  H.
Meyers.  Interment  was  at  Pierce
Cemetery.
   Although she was born in Craw-
ford County,  Georgia,  December
14, 1850, Mrs. Cox was the daughter
of  Mr. and  Mrs.  James  Copeland,
pioneer settlers of Thomas County,
who came to this section in the year
1845.  She spent her long lifetime in
this  section  and  many  years  ago
married Mr. Cox who died November
28, 1933 and who is buried at Pierce
Cemetery.
   The deceased was a member of the
Methodist Church.
   Surviving are six children, Mrs. 
Flora White, Cairo;   Mrs.  Fannie
Stephens,  Lawton,  Okla;  Mrs. Metter
Quick,  Wewahitchka,  Fla.; Mrs. Miley
Cox, Meigs, Ga.;  Mr.  E. Lester Cox,
Wewahitchka, Fla.; and Mr. Henry Grady
Cox, Cairo.  Nineteen Grandchildren,
fifty one great grandchildren and twenty
great great grandchildren also survive.
There is also one sister surviving, Mrs.
Susan McCray of West Palm Beach, Fla.
   Funeral arrangements were in charge
of the South Georgia Funeral Home.
