Kathryn Mary Cooper
Services for Kathryn Mary Cooper, Thomasville, are at 4 p.m., Sunday, May 4, 
2003 at Allen & Allen Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Bob Dixon will officiate. Mrs. 
Cooper died April 28 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla. Born Aug. 25, 
1918 in Ballston Spa, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Richard and 
Isabelle Clark Happel. On April 13, 1941 in Schenectady, N.Y., she married Sam 
Cooper who survives. Mrs. Cooper received a master's degree from Hofstra 
University, Long Island, N.Y. and was a school teacher and assistant principal 
at Benjamin Franklin Junior High in Ridgewood, N.J. She was an accomplished 
pianist and vocalist and often played piano for the Southern Pines residents 
and Kitchen Band. Other survivors include a son, Raymond Cooper of Portland, 
Maine; a daughter, Linda Cooper of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico; and five 
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Cooper. The family 
will receive friends after the Sunday service at the funeral home. Visitors
